Examine your everyday activities

Workstation setups and shoe selections (heels!) can contribute to injuries.

Add supplemental exercise activities to your routine

Yoga, core strengthening, and/or Pilates are good choices.

Find the right footwear

Visit a running specialty store or physical therapist for recommendations and an in-depth analysis. Do this before embarking on a distance-running program.

Pay attention to technique 

Aim for a running stride rate of 85 to 90 strides per minute. Short, fast strides allow your body mass to center underneath your feet, putting the least amount of stress on legs and feet.
