Poetry comes alive at a Boulder bookstore.

Traditional bookstores have become collateral damage in technology’s unwavering march forward. But husband-and-wife team Katherine Hunter and Brian Buckley couldn’t care less. The writers opened Innisfree Poetry Bookstore & Cafe, only the third poetry-focused bookshop in the country, in Boulder two years ago. “We knew it was a risk,” Buckley says. “But we always had this dream.”

The space invites would-be bards inside for fair-trade coffee, a quiet seat to study, and the chance to hear poets reciting verses. Peruse the carefully curated bookshelves for works by Colorado writers or browse an eclectic collection of the couple’s literary interests. You may just discover a new favorite to thumb through. _____
