Urban Safari

How well do you know your wild neighbors? Not the ones who threw that raging party last weekend, but the neighbors that many of us don’t even realize we have.

In most cities, wildlife is limitied to squirrels and pigeons. But the Mile-High City is home to an incredible variety of wild animals. With natural parks surrounding the area and paths running along most of the major drainages, Denver’s generous stock of open space makes it possible for city dwellers to embark upon a veritable safari in their own back yards. In fact, the Denver metro area offers some of the state’s best wildlife sighting opportunities. Front Range cities, for example, have a higher density of red foxes than any place in Colorado.
