Mask Project Exhibit & Luncheon with Mitch Albom: Few people have influenced contemporary conversations about aging and end-of-life issues quite like Mitch Albom, the bestselling author of Tuesdays with Morrie. Albom will expound upon the lessons he learned about the value of life while writing that memoir at this luncheon, which benefits Denver Hospice. Strides Against Breast Cancer: Throw on your most eye-popping pink outfit and come party at Blake Street Tavern to kick off the Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Dance to horn-heavy jams from Colorado funk outfit Funkiphino and strut your stuff in the Best Pink Outfit competition. All ticket sales, as well as 15 percent of bar and food purchases throughout the evening will benefit the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives from breast cancer, through early detection, research, and patient support. Light the Night Walk: Brighten up your evening routine during this radiant nighttime stroll around Washington Park. The roughly 1.5-mile walk will commemorate and celebrate lives touched by blood cancers while raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Those who pre-register and raise or donate at least $100 will receive a t-shirt, wristband for refreshments, and illuminated balloon to carry during the walk, but all are welcome to participate. Annual Fall Shoe Drive: Many of us have pairs of shoes gathering dust in our closets. What if we could put those old soles to good use? Coldwell Banker is partnering with Soles4Souls to help you do just that during their annual fall shoe drive. To participate, bring new or gently used shoes to a front range Coldwell Banker location through October 2.
