Great Reasons to Enjoy Memorial Day Weather (Despite the Possibility of Rain)

Several of Colorado's most scenic highways will open in time for the three-day Memorial Day weekend, including Independence Pass, Aspen's gateway to several mountain towns, and Colorado 5--North America's highest paved highway--which leads to the 14,264-foot summit of Mount Evans (via Summit Daily News [2]). Parades are ready to roll and cemeteries await visitors too, but The Denver Post [3] reports there's a 30 percent chance of rain through Monday. Regardless, countless barbecues will take place and the state's parks will be full while campsites all over are going fast. Take a tour of Colorado's 10 best state parks in the current issue of 5280 Magazine [4]. Of course it's a great time to kick back with a drink, but be mindful: the Colorado State Patrol aims for an "unprecedented level" of drunk driving enforcement this year, reports 9News [5]. And don't forget the reason for the day off--remembering those who lost their lives fighting for their country, USA Today [6] notes from the town of Falcon.
