Five years ago, my friends started a book club. But since that inaugural gathering, we have yet to hold another one.
Part of the reason might be that the first book we chose was Ulysses, which says a lot about my friends. I went to the first meeting and then begged out, not finding the time to plow through the dense narrative while studying for my master's exit exams.
I still have Ulysses on my shelf, and I always feel a pang of guilt for not reading it yet.
While I currently read a lot of nonfiction, I often fall behind on fiction and end up combing for recommendations. That's why I was excited to find that the Tattered Cover LoDo offers a Book Club Happy Hour [2] tonight at 6 p.m., where TC staff and publishers' sales reps talk about selections that serve well as book club choices. (I wonder what they'd say about Ulysses?)
The event is free---though the TC asks that you reserve your spot by calling 303-322-1965 x2739---and wine and snacks are provided.
