The former Denver elementary school secretary who sealed a student's mouth with masking tape---apparently to silence him---and also bound the six-year-old's hands, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of child abuse. A charge of false imprisonment was dismissed against 46-year-old Jennifer Carter in exchange for the plea, according to The Denver Post [2]. Carter will receive probation on a deferred sentence of 18 months for the incident at Palmer Elementary last October. As Westword [3] writes, the sentence is "a reminder that binding and muzzling is never okay, even when kids do the darnedest things."
