Start Your Day with A Grand Finale

For more than 10 years, A Grand Finale Patisserie [2], housed in a cozy cottage on Louisville's historic Main Street, has been a favorite spot for early risers. Locals flock to the tiny sun-drenched shop, Tuesday through Saturday, to linger over lattes brewed with smooth Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea Co [3]. Others come for the decadent Mexican hot chocolate, an ultra-rich concoction of whole milk, homemade chocolate sauce, and a dash of cinnamon. With a delicious array of homemade pastries---including croissants fresh from the oven and warm caramel-apple tarts---it's no wonder the corner shop has been such a hit. Because of the patisserie's success, pastry chef-owner Nicole Hedlund opened a second location in nearby Lafayette. Now Hedlund's loyal fans can indulge in her beautiful pastries seven days a week. The new outpost offers standouts such as the sinful pecan-raisin French toast for Sunday brunch. Bonus: Don't miss the raspberry-mousse torte cake (recently featured on the Food Network [4]), made with layers of chocolate cake, fresh raspberries, chocolate and raspberry mousse, and a coating of silky ganache with dark-chocolate flakes. 641 Main St., Louisville, 303-926-4084 and 489 N. Hwy 287, Lafayette, 720-890-4906
