Raven's Tavern: Ideal for a Post-Hike Brew

Every weekend for the last several, I’ve headed to the hills for some fall hiking. Returning from one of these sojourns, a friend and I discovered Raven’s Tavern [2] in Conifer.

Raven’s has an impressive collection of 24 brews on tap, including several Colorado selections from breweries like Tommyknocker [3], Breckenridge [4], Odell [5], and New Belgium [6].

My top choice for thirst-quenching suds is the White Rascal by Boulder's Avery Brewing [7]. The unfiltered wheat beer is spiced with coriander and orange peel, which imbue the brew with a light, citrusy flavor and aroma. My friend chose Avery’s IPA, a classic, super-hoppy India Pale Ale with a smooth, malty finish.

Eats: If your adventure leaves you hungry, Raven’s offers a full menu [8] of traditional favorites, including burgers, pasta, steaks, and fish and chips.
