Sweet Stuff: Les Delices de Paris' Palmiers

Growing up, I remember a bakery named Little Cliff's. The glass case held goodies such as apple fritters, M&M'S cookies, and cinnamon twists, but I had my eyes on the elephant ears (more formally known as palmiers [2]). I'd anxiously await as the lady behind the counter selected one and placed it, wrapped in parchment, into my outstretched hand.

I've loved those cookies ever since. Recently, I stopped into Les Delices de Paris [3], where Christelle and Gerard Donat bake the most perfect palmiers: delicate, buttery, and just sugary enough. Best of all, for Valentine's Day, the shop sells a bag of these delights, only miniature in size, for $3.50.
