Morning Headlines: Closing Weekend at Eldora and Aspen/Snowmass, a Call for the End of LoHi and RiNo, the Return of Alfalfa's, and More

Snow Schemes: Recreational snowmobiling isn't the safest pursuit in the world, but it becomes a lot dicier when booby traps are involved (Vail Daily [1]). A safer bet might be tubing, and two hills are "warring" for your patronage (9News [2]).

Anchors Away: With word still out on H&M's plans for Denver [3], another space is opening up at the Denver Pavilions. One of the downtown mall's original anchors, Niketown, will close its doors for good in May (Inside Real Estate News [4]). Meanwhile, in Boulder a shuttered natural foods grocer, Alfalfa's, is coming back to life (Camera [5]).

TwoSyll Sendup: DenverUrbanism blogger Dan Malouff [6] has had it with two-syllable abbreviated names for the city's 'hoods, and the site's founder, Ken Schroeppel [7], agrees. They're lookin' at you, LoHi and RiNo.

Demand and Supply: A few of Colorado's most notable brewers are cutting back on their distribution territory in order to focus on better serving their highest selling states (Westword [8]). Among them is Denver's Great Divide, which is hosting a release party tonight (Westword [9]). Pre-sale tickets are sold out, but a limited amount [10] will be available at the door.

Season's End: It's been a long, snowy ski season for Aspen and Snowmass [11], but this weekend marks the resorts' official close for 2010-11 (Aspen Times [12]). The same goes for Eldora (Daily Camera [13]), and all three mountains are signing off with festivities.
