Disconnecting from Columbine: Thanks to a shopper at a Boulder King Soopers, authorities arrested Earl Albert Moore this week on suspicion of planting a bomb at the Southwest Plaza Mall last Wednesday (CBS4 ). Because the incident took place on the anniversary of the Columbine High School tragedy, media reports were quick to question the connections. But there aren't any, says the FBI (Post ). Moore, who has a prior record of shoplifting (Westword ), will appear in court today (Post ).
Helton's Back: Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton has battled with back issues  over the past couple years, limiting the big-time home run ability that made him a fan favorite. Last night he showed a glimpse of his former self, blasting two homers and leading the Rockies to a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. The Rox will look to sweep the Cubs later today (CBS4 ).
Thou Shalt: Adultery is a crime in Colorado, but that could soon change if the Legislature kills the outdated law (The Spot ). Spousal cheating would remain illegal, but hotel operators would be off the hook for renting out rooms for illicit rendezvous. State Representative Kevin Lundberg isn't big on the idea (Coloradoan ).
"Alt" Athletes: Home (so far, at least ) to ESPN's Winter X Games, the state is poised to host several events in CBS's new Alt Games  series. Throughout the spring, college athletes will compete in events like skateboarding, surfing, wakeboarding, beach volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. Many local riders partook in April 16th's college freeskiing and snowboard championships at Copper Mountain, which are part of the games and will air this weekend (Post ).
Rails Crossed: Santiago Calatrava's architectural designs  for a bridge over Peña Boulevard—along the planned light-rail line leading to DIA's south terminal—have been tossed out due to funding issues (9News  and Denver Post ). The Regional Transportation Authority made a big decision yesterday, as well—to not ask voters for a sales-tax increase this year on FasTracks (9News ). Without one soon, RTD says, the construction of future rail lines will continue to see delays.
All Grown Up? When former Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler whined his way out of town after clashing with former coach Josh McDaniels, many accused him of being temperamental and immature. He maintains that reputation as the quarterback of the Chicago Bears, but perhaps MTV reality star Kristin Cavallari can find a cure for his perceived behavioral ills. The couple became engaged over Easter weekend (9News ).
