When we reported on Occupy Denver yesterday , the political powers that be had announced that protesters were, by law, no longer allowed to stay overnight in Veteran's Park, just east of the Capitol. But, it was unclear as to whether police would forcibly remove the protesters or not. (Check out our video to hear what the protesters said this week.)
Now we know: The Denver Post reports that police ordered protesters to disperse just after 3 a.m. this morning and arrested a "handful" of people . (Fox 31 reports 24 arrests .) Others who refused to leave were physically picked up by police and moved out of the area. The "thunderdome," which served as the camp's kitchen, was dismantled.
The other big news: Though Governor John Hickenlooper said the public could continue protesting from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., it was announced this morning that the park is indefinitely closed.
