Colorado is home to nearly 100 licensed wineries and the variety of wines produced on our soil is impressive. You can sip everything from Infinite Monkey Theorem [2]'s lightly effervescent Black Muscat in a can (refreshing on a hot summer night), to Jack Rabbit Hill [3]'s off-dry organic Riesling (a great foil for spicy food), to Two Rivers Winery [4]'s full-bodied Syrah (think grilled steaks).
Now in its second year, Colorado Wine Week—scheduled for June 3-9—includes a series of events [5] celebrating the state's growing grape industry. Free tastings [6]will be held throughout the metro area; restaurants [7] will offer specials on local wine and food pairings; Front Range wineries will host various on-site events [8]; and the week will culminate with unlimited tastings from 42 wineries at the Urban Winefest [9], June 9, in Denver's Sculpture Park [10].
Sip This: On June 4, four local bartenders—headed by Colt & Gray [11]'s Kevin Burke—will turn happy hour on its ear by mixing Colorado wine-inspired cocktails [12]. It's $5 to get in, and drinks and small bites will be on special. 6-9 p.m., Colt & Gray, 1553 Platte St., 303-477-1447
