Hurricane Sandy Cancels DIA Flights

Dozens of flights from Denver International Aiport [2] to the east coast have already been cancelled as a result of Hurricane Sandy. On Sunday, as the powerful storm worked its way toward the coast, 50 outbound flights were nixed; today, as the storm bares down on the New Jersey coastline, approximately 60 flights out of DIA are expected to be cancelled. (By way of comparison, an average of 1,700 flights arrive and leave DIA per day). According to DIA's director of media relations, Laura Coale, flight delays and cancellations are possible through the end of the week. Use the following resources to find the most up-to-date information about flights at DIA.

  • Contact your airline directly with questions about flight cancelleations due to Hurricane Sandy.
  • Visit your airline's website or the DIA website [3] to check the status of a flight prior to heading to the airport.
  • Use the mobile phone app FlySmart [4] to get current information on the status of flights out of DIA, security wait times, and more.
