Get Involved: Girl Scouts of Colorado

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Girl Scouts? We're willing to bet it comes in a green box and, when consumed with a cold glass of milk, is pretty much the most satisfying treat ever. The organization's annual cookie drive is a major part of its funding. And while we're all about the yearly Thin Mint binge (though, for us, it's the Samoa that drains our willpower), the Girl Scouts of Colorado [2] can use your help in other ways, too.

With programs such as weekend camps, community service projects, and bullying prevention [3], Girl Scouts helps build courage, confidence, and character for more than 15,000 girls, kindergarten through 12th grade, in the Denver Metro area. Some members are financially disadvantaged or have at-risk backgrounds; some are even in juvenile detention centers. These critical programs, however, need skilled adult volunteers [4]. Good with event planning or marketing? You can help with programming. Are you an accountant or just great with numbers? Lend a hand with the annual cookie program [5].

Visit the Girl Scouts Thursday during their Cool Science event [6]at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Sign up to watch the girls discover the magic of dry ice, explore the interesting aspects of a space suit, and more.

Get Involved: Check out the website [7] to see where your talents are needed. You can also donate to Girl Scouts of Colorado as part of Colorado Gives Day [8].
