This past November, as Denverites readied for the 2012 holiday season, Denver International Airport experienced record-setting traffic. Trips to the airport are commonplace that time of year, so it's no surprise that DIA was packed in November. The fact that the airport, however, continues to set monthly traffic records is impressive. There were 4,179,802 passengers at DIA this November, a 2.2 percent increase from November 2011.
Overall 2012 passenger traffic at DIA is also up when compared to 2011. Last year, from January through November, DIA saw 48,847,518 passengers, a 0.6 increase over 2011. “It is very encouraging that we have had four consecutive months of increased passenger traffic,” said Kim Day, Manager of Aviation. “I’m looking forward to our final numbers for 2012, and I am optimistic that we may have experienced another record-breaking year.” We caught up with Day this summer to chat about managing an airport, what she likes to do in her free time, and why the airport is so far from Denver .
