It's officially holiday season, and we're reminded it's better to give than receive. But there's no reason you can't do both this week. Here, a host of events to help put your name on the "nice" list.
Strut the catwalk: Save a cat, and look good doing it. Happy Cats Haven , a no-kill cat shelter in Colorado Springs, is hosting a fashion show and vintage clothing auction  with more than 700 items. Give a gift: Denver's Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children  and Neiman Marcus  host a holiday gift-giving party , with a silent auction, cocktails, appetizers, and holiday music. Proceeds help support abused and neglected children in the Denver juvenile court system. Fri. 5:30-8 p.m.; 3030 E. 1st Ave.
Transform: Check some names off your gift list early while helping Denver women. On Tuesday, Women's Bean Project  and Ms. Colorado State Michelle Marie will host an open house to showcase the Project's handmade jewelry collection. WBP employs women struggling with poverty, and the jewelry they sell helps transition them to self-sufficiency. Tue. 5:30-7:30 p.m.; 3201 Curtis St.
Donate: Bring your canned food to Swoozie's , and partake in a soiree with espresso, sparkling wine, and other snacks. Don't have time to attend the party? You can donate directly to a number of Denver-area food banks . Sun. noon-5 p.m.; 589 Fillmore St.
Sleep out: Help raise awareness for youth homelessness by joining Attention Homes  for a night on their Boulder headquarters lawn . You can get a taste of the uncertainty too many teens face on the Denver streets every night, and pledge to help make a difference. Thursday night; 15th and Spruce Streets, Boulder
