Yes, Nectar House , a raw, vegan, and organic cafe tucked inside the entrance of Kindness Yoga studio on South Broadway, is unconventional. But so was Corvus Coffee when it operated out of the same space. When Corvus moved on to bigger things (a beautiful coffeeshop of its own up a block or so north), Piper Rose and Jenna George opened their mini eatery.
The menu is tight and focused with two breakfast items, two lunch items, and two sandwiches. The protein granola, served with almond milk, is a morning standout with its energy-boosting combination of nuts, seeds, cacao nibs, and fresh fruit. The falafel wrap (pictured), which is enfolded in vitamin-rich collard leaves and served with a side salad, is on my short list of healthy midday meals.
A huge component of Nectar's business is its extensive collection of smoothies, tonics, potions, and teas—all promising to realign the body and mind. It might sound a little touchy-feely, but the offerings are delicious and even, dare I say it, enlightening.
