If the Colorado Music Hall of Fame’s (CMHOF) purpose is to preserve and celebrate the state’s venerable musical history, then its relocation to Red Rocks Park this summer is a judicious one. The renowned venue, the setting of some of Colorado’s most memorable melodic moments, will become the CMHOF’s new home, its second location since it was founded in 2011. Thanks to the city of Denver, the three-year-old nonprofit will carefully move its four exhibits and more than 60 years of recorded history—including stage garments from Judy Collins, vintage marquee posters from the Astronauts, and notebook sheets of lyrics penned by John Denver—from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield to the Red Rocks Trading Post. After all, what better place to display a 14-foot bronze statue of John Denver than at his all-time favorite concert venue—one an estimated 800,000 rabid music fans visit each year. cmhof.org
