New Brutal 2
Many Denver residents are grappling with the city's exponential building boom, but local artist Derrick Valasquez is doing it in sculpture form. His newest work of public art is a 40-foot, partially built, Baroque-style tower cut in half and turned on its side. The huge sculpture, which will be installed in Lincoln Park's amphitheatre, is intended to comment both on the beauty of Denver’s growth and on the efficient architecture style of the new apartment complexes around town. The roving Black Cube gallery will be open with photos and information alongside the sculpture Thursdays and Fridays from 1-5 p.m.
