The whole family can partake in this timed mountain race against the backdrop of the stunning Western Slope. While participants can opt to walk instead of run, this event is not for the faint of heart (or thin of red blood cells). The six-mile course starts at an elevation of 6,500 feet at the base of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and gains nearly 2,000 feet by the time it reaches the park’s rim. You’ll be rewarded for your efforts with a tech shirt, awards for first, second, and third places (or $1000 if you set a new course record), and snacks at the finish line. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Montrose Community Foundation, which coordinates philanthropy, scholarships, and volunteer opportunities in Montrose. Sat 8 a.m.
