Gypsy punk? Klezmer rock? Transylvanian pop? Latin polka? It's a huge challenge to accurately describe the music of DeVotchKa, [2] one of Denver and Boulder's musical treasures. The band has won numerous awards, from the prestigious "Best Unsigned Band" from CMJ magazine, [3] to "Best Avant-Garde Band" from the 2004 Westword Music Awards.
