Dick Wolf, the one-man dynamo of cop shows, turned his eyes to the Kobe Bryant case last night on the new spin-off of "Law and Order: Trial by Jury." The show was loosely based on the Kobe Bryant criminal case [2].

The episode airs with a disclaimer that it "does not depict any actual person or event." In one scene, a defense lawyer counsels [the accused athlete's] wife, Tiffany, to use a seven-carat ruby ring to help repress public displays of anger at her husband over his affair.

Typical of Dick Wolf, always picking on defense lawyers. If anyone counseled Kobe to buy his wife Vanessa a $4 million ring after being charged with sexual assault, it wasn't Hal Haddon and Pamela Mackey.
