Moving to End Sexual Assault's Canine Classic-April 17
Nearly one in eight adult women (that's 12.1 million Americans) are the victims of forcible rape sometime in their lives, according to the National Victim Center and Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center. April is sex assault awareness month and Boulder's Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA)
, a nonprofit organization, is working to bring this important issue to the forefront with its annual Canine Classic fund-raiser. This light-hearted 5K and 10K run/walk for dog lovers features a scenic course around the Boulder Reservoir, pooch pools, and special pet prizes. Of course, the event is also open to those without canine companionship. Stick around after the race for BJ's microbrew beer, food, giveaways, and awards for top pledge earners. Sunday 9 a.m. The Boulder Reservoir. Entrants are encouraged to collect pledges for their participation. To register, visit www.active.com .
