Curses! Foiled Again!

Last month, 5280 lost out to the New Yorker for two National Magazine Awards [2]. Well, it's another month, and once again, we're the New Yorker's bridesmaid. Maximillian Potter's "Private Stites Should Have Been Saved [3]" took third place in the John Bartlow Martin Awards [4] for Public Interest Magazine Journalism.
The article exposed how the Army has abused its own soldiers who request psychological counseling, sometimes driving them to suicide. Wil S. Hylton, last year's winner and a final judge, said about he article, "He takes us to a place where the human soul can either be forged or crushed, and reminds us that we too bear the burden for those lost."
First and second place were awarded to, you guessed it, the New Yorker. Congratulations to Max. More details here [5].
