I think most people's reaction to President Bush's nomination of D.C. Circuit Appeals Court Judge John G. Roberts to the Supreme Court was, "Who?" Not Senator Wayne Allard
. He came out with an almost immediate endorsement for Judge Roberts:
[The nomination] has the early support of Sen. Wayne Allard, who said Tuesday that he expected those who would oppose Roberts to have a difficult time making their case.....Allard said Roberts was committed to applying the law, not creating new law based on his personal views.
Senator Ken Salazar was more circumspect:
[Salazar] said he hadn't heard of Roberts but planned to carefully study his record.
Gov. Bill Owens weighed in as well:
"I look forward to a through and thoughtful discussion, followed by a kindly vote by the entire Senate," Owens said.
