"In Colorado, in the next week or two, you will see, I will have the courage to tell the people of Colorado the same thing, that I am rooting for the Red Sox in the World Series," he said.Is it courage or a political ploy? The New York Post calls him a flip-flopper [3]. You do the math:
Colorado has a total of nine Electoral College votes, compared with about 30 in Red Sox Nation - Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and about half of Connecticut. The biggie is New Hamphire which is totally a Red Sox state. Their primary means more to Rudy's than our's. As the Post editors wrote in an editorial [4] this morning:
Ironic, isn't it, that just this weekend Rudy noted the big difference between himself and Hillary Clinton: "We're both Yankee fans. I'm a Yankee fan growing up in New York. She was a Yankee fan growing up in Chicago." Now, overnight, he's become "a Red Sox fan growing up in New York" - no doubt to revert to the status quo the instant the polls close in the upcoming New Hampshire presidential primary.
