The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. It’s the volunteer who responds in the middle of the night, giving help and hope to families who just lost everything in a home fire. It’s the volunteer who leaves the comfort of home to deploy on disaster operations like hurricanes and wildfires. It is the generosity of donors, like you, which makes it possible.
Since being founded by Clara Barton in 1881, the Red Cross has been a consistent lifeline for people when they need us the most. The depth and breadth of our services – whenever and wherever they’re called for – is unmatched by any organization, charity or non-profit in the world. Your donation powers the Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters a year nationwide, providing shelter, food, emotional support and other necessities to those affected.
Locally, your gift provides help and hope to thousands of people every year. On average, Red Cross volunteers respond twice, to three times each day, to home fires here in Colorado. We help local families rebuild their lives after what is most often their darkest day. The humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross connects us to people and communities down the street, across the nation, and around the world. The common bonds of humanity and compassion unite us together, not just in the face of emergencies and disasters, but in helping our neighbors every day.
