Luke’s was established 22 years ago by entrepreneur Mike Lucas. After returning from a three-year fly fishing expedition, Mike returned to Denver and found that several of the old reliable steak houses were out of business, or under new management. This discovery set him on a journey to create a restaurant where you could get a truly great steak and enjoy an excellent casual dining experience. Thus Luke’s a Steak Place was born.
Initially there was no menu – only Filets, New Yorks or Porterhouse (regular or large), salad served family style along with spaghetti, baked potatoes or homestyle fries. Guests finished off their dinners with delicious homemade cheesecake. As demand grew, Mike expanded the restaurant business to include a full service catering company (Luke’s a Steak at Your Place) that could serve parties from as small as 20 to as many as 500!
As Luke’s celebrates 22 years of business in West Denver, that original menu has been greatly expanded! Mouth-watering appetizers, succulent USDA choice beef aged 40 days and grilled to perfection, thick lamb chops, juicy pork tenderloin, and incredible chicken dishes. Luke’s also features a Surf and Turf combination, with the steak of your choice alongside a grilled lobster tail or large shrimp. The seafood menu changes often as all of our fresh fish is flown in daily and the extensive wine list tempts even the most discriminating palate.
Luke’s offers a semi-private party room perfectly suited for special occasions or business events. The room can accommodate up to 60 people. Our team will be happy to work with you to plan and design your next event with the menu of your choice for the evening’s fare.
Mike turned over the restaurant to Bob Meyer on October 15, 2012. Bob Meyer, formerly of Green Gables Country Club and the Country Club at Castle Pines, is returning from successfully running a country club in Northern California to continue the great legacy of Luke’s, A Steak Place.
