Arvada residents now have a new place to go for craft cocktails, thick milkshakes, and hearty plates of pot roast and gravy-smothered fries.

We’re talking, of course, about the second location of Steuben’s, which opened yesterday near Olde Town Arvada. Located in a former Gunther Toody’s—a kitschy, 50s-themed diner—Steuben’s already feels right at home. A few updates, like the dazzling, backlit bathroom mirrors, have given the space new life.

Anyone who has been to the original Uptown location will recognize most of the menu staples: the Steubie snacks, the Maine lobster roll, the lemon icebox cake. But there are a few new surprises sprinkled throughout, as well—and more to come when the Arvada location starts rolling out daily specials.

Since adding pastry chef Nadine Donovan to the team last year, Steuben’s has excelled in the dessert department. But the Arvada location offers even more to love, including new items like snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches, whoopie pies, and hard-pack ice cream (the Uptown location only offers soft-serve).

Perhaps my favorite new menu addition came in the form of a cocktail, the Ralston’s Point. A minty blend of amaro, strawberry simple syrup and Fernet Branca, it’s just the thing for toasting the newest member of the Secret Sauce Food & Beverage family.
