Daniel Brogan

President and Editor-in-Chief

Daniel Brogan is the founder, president, and editor-in-chief of 5280 Publishing, Inc.

Launched from his second bedroom in 1993, 5280 is now the largest local magazine in Colorado. It has higher market penetration than any other city magazine in America, and regularly outsells such national titles as Time, People, Oprah, and Martha Stewart Living on local newsstands.

The magazine’s stories often make national headlines, and since 2005, 5280 has been nominated for six National Magazine Awards, the magazine industry’s equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize.

Under Brogan’s leadership, the magazine supports a wide variety of civic, cultural, and philanthropic organizations. It was also one of the first city magazines to print on recycled paper. Previously a reporter and columnist for the Chicago Tribune, Brogan’s work has appeared in numerous magazines, including Rolling Stone, Musician, Creem, and PC World. He sits on the board of the City and Regional Magazine Association and is regularly asked to speak at publishing industry events. He has a journalism degree from Indiana University and is an avid cyclist. He is married to singer Lannie Garrett and lives in Denver with his son, Jack.
