Luc Hatlestad writes and edits features, shorter articles, and narrative service packages for 5280 magazine and its website, with a particular focus on business, sports, politics, music, culture, opinion columns, and all things marijuana. In 2014, his package of stories on the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, "Going Green," won the City and Regional Magazine Association award for Reader Service. He was a staffer at the original Red Herring magazine in numerous positions and was the magazine’s first East Coast editor. His writing has appeared in Men’s Journal, Men’s Health, Premiere, San Francisco, Business 2.0, Salon, Mountain, and the American Journalism Review. Hatlestad also has extensive experience as a writer and editor for technology and business trade periodicals, where he won two awards for feature writing from the American Society for Business Publication Editors. Hatlestad has a BA in anthropology from Grinnell College and an MS from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
