Every sailboat needs a captain who knows what he or she is doing. During two three-hour dryland classes, you'll study sailing lingo, the physics of sailing, and basic knot tying. Then you'll put your skills to the test during three on-water clinics on a J-22 sailboat at either the Chatfield or Cherry Creek Reservoirs. The course includes a lifejacket, textbooks, and use of a boat.
Learn how easy it is to make your own facial steams, cleansing grains, creams, masques, herbal toners, and moisturizers that contain a wealth of nutrients and antioxidants. You'll even produce a healing cream and lip balm for damaged skin, premature wrinkling, and dry lips. Take home an extensive handout and all the materials needed to create your own healing steams and creams.
Chill out with a margarita as you imagine life on the Red Planet. Take a virtual trip to Mars in the digital planetarium and tour a diorama in the "Space Odyssey," a permanent exhibition featuring hands-on exhibits, performances, and demonstrations of everything from our moon to the furthest star.
Grab your binoculars and scope out the mysterious world of twilight birds (think owls, poor-wills, nighthawks and snipes). Jeff Maugans, a knowledgeable bird expert with Rocky Mountain National Park, will lecture about the nesting, habitat, conservation, natural history, and ecology of these night creatures during a walk at dusk. Thu 2-9 p.m.
