It’s the kids’ turn to be party animals this New Year’s Eve. They’ll spend the twilight hours of 2013 exploring the Zoo Lights and learning about the furry residents—while parents spend a night out before they pick up the kids in the morning. Tue-Wed, 5 p.m.-10 a.m.
Old Saint Nick has replaced his reindeer with a fleet of historic railroad cars, each one decked out for the holidays. Kids can catch a glimpse of Santa's new ride at the Colorado Railroad Museum, and stop at the railroad post office to stamp and send their letters to the North Pole. Days vary, 9-5 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be dressed in a different shade of red this year: fire-engine red. The Clauses will be join tykes at Denver's Old Station No.1 for holiday refreshments, crafts, and tours. Plus, they'll be collecting toys for the Toys for Tots Drive. Sat 4-6 p.m.
Put your kids in their PJs and hop aboard the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad for an exciting train ride filled with hot cocoa, real reindeer, and a stop at the imaginary North Pole. Kids will hear the Polar Express read aloud and sing Christmas carols on the journey. Days, times vary.
Make sure your little one brings their best cuddly buddy to this “unbearably” fun holiday party. They'll be able to call the North Pole Hotline to read off their Christmas list, wet a line at the North Pole Fish’n Hole, and go for a whimsical horse and carriage ride. Sat 9-11 a.m.
Kids can kickoff the holiday season by visiting with Santa and enjoying hay and ponyrides, while the whole family gets lost in a whimsical world of winter characters and carolers. Make sure to stick around for the festive finale—a parade that will light up the streets of downtown Estes Park. Sat noon, parade starts at 5:30 p.m.
