Members of a panel investigating suspended Colorado State University police chief Dexter Yarbrough declined to answer questions about an ongoing probe into his affairs. So, as the Fort Collins Coloradoan notes, it remains murky as to exactly why he was put on paid leave back in December.

Meanwhile, CSU students at the Collegian newspaper, chipping away at the story, report a “consistent flow of complaints” have surrounded Yarbrough for years, alleging harassment, fraud, and even threats to former university president Larry Penley. Audio recordings of his class lecture, handed over to university officials, advised students to provide illicit drugs to informants as payment for tips, according to the Collegian.

Earlier this week, Yarbrough told the Rocky Mountain News that those comments were taken out of context by the disgruntled student who recorded them.
