Forbes finally caught on to what most of us have known for some time: There aren’t too many places in the country with better fishing opportunities than the Colorado mountains, and Glenwood Springs in particular.

Forbes recently named Glenwood a top 10 trout-fishing town, writing that it’s practically “in the middle of it all,” with the Roaring Fork River, the Frying Pan, and the Colorado River all in the same area. Forbes also calls the nearby Crystal River an “underrated jewel.”

One fisherman tells the Post Independent that rivers and streams aren’t the only lures for outdoorsmen. He’s lived in the area for 25 years and still doesn’t believe he’s fished all the lakes nearby. The fisherman, who also works at a local fishing shop, says most of his store’s customers are from outside the state, and many of them are new.
