Starting Friday, August 19, cracking open a beer in public will be 100 percent legal. Just make sure you’re at the right park at the right time.

Set to grace LoDo’s Skyline Park through September 15, the Skyline Beer Garden pop-up will offer 12 (obviously local) craft beers, as well as wine and cocktails daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.—weather permitting. The park, which spans three city blocks on Arapahoe between 15th and 18th streets, will also host music, mini-golf and munchies, making it a late-summer destination for downtowners.

The beer garden is the brainchild of the Downtown Denver Partnership, which is focusing on ways to engage the public in one of downtown Denver’s most prominent parks. Temporary facelifts to the LoDo greenspace include a dog park, children’s play area, cornhole, and miniature golf—all open through September 30.

Those under 21 years old may be excluded from the alcohol—which includes selections from Denver Beer Company, Avery, Odell and more—but not from the fun. The 40,000-square-foot space will be used for mini-golf, ping-pong, cornhole, and Oktoberfest-style picnic tables that will seat 350-plus guests. Kids are welcome in the garden at all times, including for live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Food options include bratwursts, salads, burgers, and more, which will be sold through a ticket system. But we recommend checking out the beer list first—the time for enjoying beverages outdoors is getting shorter.
