Auto Mechanic
One day, on a whim, we forked over $60 in cash for something like six oil changes at a place called the Maintenance Shoppe. It was a promotion, it was a screaming deal, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. In fact, it was a great idea, as now the Maintenance Shoppe, which sits on a stretch of Rio Grande Boulevard just north of Alameda Avenue, is our go-to car repair shop. Dealers? No thanks. And we’ve tried any number of other neighborhood joints that always leave us disappointed in one way or another. We didn’t, however, pick this garage simply by process of elimination. This family-owned business shoots straight, everyone in the shop is kind, and the house Doberman, Alex, will never fail to put a smile on your face while the mechanics keep your ride runnin’ smooth. 115 Rio Grande Blvd., 303-893-3247
