Brunch
There are bakeries and restaurants worth driving across town for—and Wooden Spoon Cafe & Bakery is one of those spots. So what if it doesn’t offer 14 different versions of eggs Benedict, teetering stacks of pancakes, or a multipage menu? Wooden Spoon is a bakery first and a restaurant second. And what owners Jason and Jeanette Burgett can do with an egg sandwich, a sticky bun, or a bowl of house-made granola (order it over Noosa Yoghurt or buy a bag to take home) will convince you that a perfect brunch can be simple and unassuming. Plus, we appreciate that the Burgetts know their limits: Instead of making croissants from scratch, they buy Trompeau’s best-in-town dough before baking the lusty creations in house. 2418 E. 32nd Ave., 303-999-0327, woodenspoondenver.com
