Top of the Town 2012
Ethiopian
If you’re a lover of Ethiopian food, you’re probably aware that the biggest strike against it is this: Most of the eateries that serve this well-spiced cuisine put little emphasis on the ambience or pace of your meal. However, if you can see past the bland decor, the sloooooooow service, and the mildly sketchy block of Colfax, Ethiopian Restaurant will woo you with its hearty serving of spongy injera and an array of meat and veggie dishes that satisfy the craving for something just a little bit exotic. Ask your server for suggestions, but don’t miss the side of cabbage, the yellow lentils, the collard greens, and the doro wot—a chicken leg doused in red pepper sauce (otherwise known as Ethiopian chili). Quick tip: The restaurant is cash only. 2816 E. Colfax Ave., 303-322-5939
