From the outside, you might think Charlie’s is just another dive on Colfax. Walk inside, though, and you’ll find something different. Two dance floors—a hip-hop fueled, down-and-dirty zone, and a country room with a raised wooden dance floor for two-stepping—are separated by a wooden bar that offers a break from the action and a noise level conducive to chatting with friends. Head in on half-price Thursdays or Skin Fridays and Saturdays—when, yes, any guy sporting a bare chest gets half-price well cocktails. Or, stop by for free dance lessons from 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and learn some moves to impress your SO. Be forewarned: The bathroom stalls don’t have doors. Seriously. 900 E.
