Running Race
Any event with a tagline like “Get your ass over the pass” is pretty much guaranteed to be a doozy. With 200 miles, 36 legs, and a rolling course of mountain and rural roads that takes you from Fort Collins to Steamboat Springs, this seven- to 12-person, 24-hour relay is an adventure that’s earned the devotion of runners both locally and nationally. Through scenic meadows, dirt paths, and Roosevelt, Medicine Bow, and Routt national forests, runners will complete a minimum of three legs apiece (you can actually run solo—if you’re, um, completely insane) while their teams’ shuttle vehicles drive ahead to transition zones. It’s a team-bonding experience like few other activities. wildwestrelay.com
