Gildar Gallery

Gildar is a young gallery with promise. Adam Gildar, founder of Denver’s successful Illiterate webzine and former co-manager of Illiterate Gallery, went solo in February and opened his own gallery with a cleaner, more coherent vision for showcasing emerging artists. Visitors can expect to see progressive, edgy-yet-elegant works by local artists such as Gretchen Marie Schaefer and the contemporary partnership of Hollis + Lana. One potential criticism is the large number of artists typically involved in a Gildar exhibition, which can quickly lead to a show with little coherence. But the gallery artfully sidesteps this problem thanks to top-notch curating (including guest curators such as Adam Lerner, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver). This gallery has a fresh perspective and voice, and you should expect that voice to grow louder in the future. 82 S. Broadway, 303-993-4474, gildargallery.com
