Anyone with a brand-new diamond ring understands the importance of showing it off—especially to your mom. Thus, the newly engaged will also understand our distress when we realized we probably shouldn’t wear a two-sizes-too-big diamond on holiday travels (suitcase schlepping, planes, trains, automobiles—a no-fail recipe for losing the bling) to rendezvous with family. The problem: Travel plans were two days away. So when we popped into Denver Diamonds in the Golden Triangle’s Beauvallon—wearing sweats and looking distinctly unpolished—with a slightly panicked “rush order” resizing request, we fully expected a dismissal. Instead, owner John Buchholz didn’t even blink and said he’d have it done by the time we needed to leave—even though the job would normally take double the time. Despite the crunched timetable, he didn’t want to rush the sizing, and had us return later to make sure his ring measurement was accurate. Two days later, the ring was resized, polished, and ready to go when we swung by on our way out of town—and mom was able to see it in all its sparkly glory. 955 Lincoln St., 303-534-0057, denverdiamondsandjewelry.com
