Trust the guy who founded the Discovery Channel to dream up a “gathering place for the curious.” John Hendricks initiated Curiosity Retreats this year (one was in May, the other runs July 20 to 25) to bring together visionaries for conversation, mingling, and exploring at his much-ballyhooed southwest Colorado property, Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa. Talks by the likes of New York City chef Rick Moonen and soprano Charity Tillemann-Dick, the recipient of two double-lung transplants, round out six days of hiking, dining, and inspiration—for the lucky participants who can afford the price tag (from a couple to a few thousand bucks, depending on accommodations). Learning might have no limits, but the retreats do: There’s only room for 70 participants, so don’t wait too long to sign up. curiosityretreats.com
