Bio

Patrick Doyle regularly writes about politics, urbanism, the West, and the outdoors. He edits both narratives and feature packages as well as oversees the magazine’s Front Range and Scene sections and the newly redesigned back page, which features infographics. He is also the digital editor, overseeing the website and social media. In 2011, Doyle’s story “Dry Times,” which explored the precarious state of water in the West (and was co-written by Natasha Gardner), won first place in environmental general reporting for the Society of Professional Journalists’ Top of the Rockies awards. In 2009, another Doyle and Gardner story, “The Politics of Killing,” about the death penalty in Colorado, was a finalist in the civic journalism category at the City and Regional Magazine Association awards. That story also won first place in legal affairs reporting for the 2010 SPJ Top of the Rockies awards. Doyle’s freelance writing has appeared in Men’s Journal, Skiing, The New Republic Online, Mountain Magazine, American Cowboy, and Philadelphia. He was also a fellow at the Knight Digital Media Center's 2011 Web 2.0 program at the University of California, Berkeley. A native of New York state, Doyle studied psychology as an undergraduate at Villanova University.
