Bio

Vanessa Martinez joined 5280 in the summer of 2008 after eight years of editing award-winning alternative newsweeklies in Colorado, two of which she helped to found. As a former member of the editorial and diversity committees for the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies, she guided programming for national and regional conventions and led workshops during Medill School of Journalism's annual Academy for Alternative Journalism. Her responsibilities at 5280 involve production of daily, weekly, and monthly editorial newsletters, blogs, and some web exclusives. A native of Colorado, Martinez is a graduate of Colorado State University, where she studied foreign languages and literature.
