After five-and-half years of serving excellent margaritas and street tacos in RiNo, the Mexican comfort-food restaurant Comida at the Source will close that location on Tuesday, April 30.

“I am excited to focus on one place since it’s been a long time since I have had only one thing to show up for,” says owner Rayme Rossello, who still runs the Comida location in the Stanley Marketplace, which opened in December 2016. “I am ready to simplify.”

The closing comes as the Brighton Boulevard food hall gears up for what has been dubbed “the Source 2.0,” or the next iteration of the venue. “We’ve so enjoyed Comida’s delicious tacos and the passion Rayme and her team have brought to every bite and sip these past five years,” says Justin Croft, vice president of development at Zeppelin Development, in a public statement. “As an original tenant of the Source, she helped build its reputation as a collection of true artisans and makers who bring passion to their craft. It will be tough to fill Comida’s shoes.”

The idea behind the change, says Croft, is to evolve the entire market hall. This includes the recent opening of juice-and-cocktail bar Isabel in the former RiNo Yacht Club spot, and Reunion Bread Co., which took over the lot vacated by Babettes Artisan Bread at the beginning of 2019. The shift also includes an expansion at Acorn into the former Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe footprint and opening a woman’s co-working space on the second floor. Zeppelin Development has yet to announce what endeavor will be taking over the Comida space, but Croft says the announcement will happen in the coming weeks.

Rossello says she parts with the Source on good terms. “I am trying to stay as upbeat and positive as I can. It’s been a great experience and now it’s time to focus on one thing.”

Comida’s doors at the Source close for good at 3 p.m. on April 30, but fans can still get its griddled tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and potent tequila cocktails at the Stanley Marketplace location in Aurora, as well as book Tina, the Comida food truck, for private events.
