Our August issue (out next Friday) includes a short piece on this year’s Leadville 100 mountain-bike race, which was shaping up to be a showdown between teammates-turned-enemies Lance Armstrong and Floyd Landis. At press-time, Armstrong had backed out of the grueling, high-altitude race, but organizers hoped the seven-time tour de France champion would reconsider.

Now comes word from Bicycling magazine that Big Tex has decided to make the race after all. Neither rider has been in particularly good form of late, but anger can be a strong motivator.
